Drop in... online! Posted by raptor1982 on Monday, February 4 2008
DLRP has created an excellent Tower of Terror website with great looking graphics and features. Although not everything is online yet, you can get a glimpse of the main features. A game is coming online soon where visitors have to search through the several rooms in the hotel for ghosts.
Write your own Tower of Terror commercial! Posted by raptor1982 on Thursday, January 17 2008
French youth channel M6 is organising a contest with Disneyland Resort Paris in which its viewers can write their very own version of a Tower of Terror commercial. A jury will then select the best script and produce it, to air the new ad in April on M6 and its sub-channels.
Before you rush out your notepad and pencil, the contest will only be available for residents of France... However, it's not clear yet if a similar contest will be launched in other countries as well.

How do you spell "The Hollywood Tower Hotel" upside down? Posted by raptor1982 on Wednesday, July 25 2007
WDSfans visitor STS sends us in a photo from all the Hollywood Tower Hotel letters up on the building, but upside down. Awaiting for their installation, the letters are resting on scaffolding, ready to be unwrapped from their protective plastic coat.
First Hollywood Tower Hotel letters up! Posted by raptor1982 on Tuesday, July 24 2007
Disney Central Plaza administrar Grandmath has confirmed on the magicforum that the first letters have been installed on the Tower of Terror building.
The words "Tower" and "Hotel" had the honour to be installed first with the rest of the words "The" and "Hollywood" to be added during the following nights.
Many thanks to "Devil" and "Grandmath" from Disney Central Plaza.

Finding the differences... Posted by raptor1982 on Tuesday, July 17 2007
Who said our Tower of Terror would be identical to the California version? Although still being under construction, a few details can be recognised as being different from it's sister in the United States. Although these details aren't any major changes (don't expect anything new or different inside the attraction), they do make the Tower look less plastic-like and more eerie as it should be.
Difference #1 The biggest difference is the construction material. The California version was build from a metal structure, while at Paris it was completely build up from the ground in concrete, due to construction limits in France.
Difference #2 The support beams on the side wings of the Tower have been addorned with additional themed elements compared to the DCA version.
Difference #3 The dome on the left side of the front building appears to be lower in Paris and the border around it is not grey asd it is in California, but adorned with blue tiles.
Difference #4 The rough edge on the front building looks more realistic in Paris where the red bricks stand out more, compared to California, where everything has been painted purple.

Why an abandoned hotel got build at the Studios Posted by raptor1982 on Sunday, April 29 2007
La Roquine shares on the Disney Central Plaza forum the official back story for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction:
Not so long ago Disney Imagineers discovered a lost script from The Twilight Zone television series. The episode goes about a group of visitors that explore the ruins of a Hollywood hotel, abandoned after a horrible incident. After discovering what happened to the 5 remain hotel guests, the visitors find themselves stuck... in the Twilight Zone!
To shoot this lost episode, Imagineers recreated an exact copy of the hotel and are now casting the principal actors, namely... the visitors!
This story however will not be actually used during the pre-show, as it will be exactly the same as the one in the US-parks.
Traces of one stormy night long ago... Posted by raptor1982 on Friday, April 27 2007
More and more details are being added to the impressive Hollywood Tower Hotel building. Cracks have been painted on the far right top, balconies added to the right side and bricks are added to the rough edge.
Painters were also spotted putting a white primer on the La Terrasse walls.

Tower of Terror unwrapped Posted by raptor1982 on Friday, April 6 2007
A reader was kind enough to send us a couple of photos from today, showing the Tower's scaffolding without the plastic covering.
The photos reveal the yellow/brown colour on the lower part of the building and a metal construction that was added to the front domes' support, which will probably soon be covered by decorative elements.
Tower of Terror trailer Posted by raptor1982 on Wednesday, April 4 2007
A frequent visitor has send us a link to a commercial on YouTube from The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, featuring the Disneyland Resort Paris logo.
This trailer is reportedly not the final commercial that will be used for the broad public, but is rather used for internal communications.
Many thanks to R.S. for the heads up!

The Tower's visual impact Posted by raptor1982 on Monday, January 8 2007
Tower of Terror is unarguably a new icon for the Walt Disney Studios Park. It stands out all over the place and not just in the Walt Disney Studios Park.
Following photos highlight the Tower's visual impact as it can be seen from surrounding villages (Meaux and Esbly), Val d'Europe and at minor locations at Disneyland Park (the Fantasyland gate near Bella Note and the Treehouse).
Photos Magiques has an update on the construction progress here.

La Terrasse: That's a wrap? Posted by Anthony on Friday, November 24 2006
After the much-celebrated dome installation yesterday, another piece of Tower of Terror news snuck onto the web that has the possibility of being infinitely more impressive for fans of the park.
The concept of a small number of false Hollywood facades in the space between Disney Bros. Plaza and Studio Tram Tour has been rumoured for some time, but now new plans are also calling for the demolition of La Terrasse, to make way for a true Hollywood entrance for the Tower of Terror.
La Terrasse is the partially covered seating area in front of the Tower of Terror construction site and is located right at the heart of the park, open from Day 1 as an outdoor dining area and a teaser of things to come. If green-lit, these new plans, confirmed by Kinou on the WDS Fans magicforum, would transform this area with a small series of "movie set" Hollywood façades similar to those seen in Hollywood Pictures Backlot at Disney's California Adventure park.
Topping-out the Tower of Terror! Posted by Anthony on Friday, November 24 2006
Construction of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Walt Disney Studios Park today reached an important new milestone, as the landmark building was topped-out with the addition of its heighest dome, giving the official height of 183 feet to far and away the tallest building at Disneyland Resort Paris.
The dome was lifted from the backstage area behind Studio Tram Tour: Behind the Magic to the top of the tower and fastened in place to several vertical metal fixings which have been visible for several months. The dome is actually only the first of three to be used in the design of the Pueblo Deco Hollywood Tower Hotel (the design used by California and Paris). The second is located on the front-left of the large showbuilding whilst a third sits atop the Art Deco tower at the front of the construction (which is currently still a black metal framework).
Further progress elsewhere on the Tower has also been made in recent days. Surprisingly, scaffolding has now been fully removed from the right-hand balcony section at the top of the tower. Whilst this section is now sporting pale yellow paintwork and a darker trim on the faux pueblo tiling, it still requires much more work before completion. The base of the section, which juts out from the tower's tallest point, is clearly unfinished, and the entire section is still in need of weathering and ageing to give it a colour and effect similar to the darker, more sinister finished design.
The advancement of primer and early paintwork across the entire left side of the building has continued, with a large portion now under the wrapping of white sheets, suggesting more intense work is now starting on the detail and finish of the walls.
With the dome in place, colour arriving and details still being added, the Parisian tower is beginning to resemble the finished design quite spectacularly.

Terror from the sky! Posted by Anthony on Monday, September 4 2006
What extreme lengths would you go to to capture interesting shots of the Walt Disney Studios Park construction sites? Dropping to the floor and peering under the fences? Waiting next to a fence for hours in the vain hope it'll blow over? Riding Flying Carpets Over Agrabah so many times you make it into the Genie's outtakes with a vomit-styled interpretation of the scene?
How about taking to the skies above the resort with your very own pilot?! Of course, the author of this photo (SweetJoe on Disney Central Plaza forum) had more in mind than just the Tower of Terror, but this certainly gives us a truly unique new angle on the two huge construction sites...

Keeping an eye on the Tower Posted by raptor1982 on Monday, July 31 2006
A camera on top of Disney Studio 1 has been following the construction of Tower of Terror for quite some time. A timelaps video might be in the works for a future resort dvd, similar to a video of the Sleeping Beauty Castle construction on the new "Une Aventure Magique" dvd.

Yellow terror, or white? Posted by Anthony on Monday, July 24 2006
Despite not opening for almost another 18 months yet, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has already received its first few coats of paint. Applied on the back of the tower, down one concrete column, the paint currently being used is an off-white colour applied on top of a deeper orange/yellow base coat, perhaps some kind of primer or plaster used to prepare the bare concrete surface of the tower for painting.
The front (show scene / boiler room section) of the Tower has risen further and is now nearing its peak, whilst more details and basic themeing touches can be seen all over. The protruding concrete columns on the back of the tower give extra relief and style, along with the first windows which have now been fitted. The front of the Tower already gives a strong Hollywod feel, with the bare concrete shells of the smaller buildings already featuring many basic art deco touches in their design.
Terror from above! Posted by Anthony on Thursday, June 8 2006
Click here to see some incredible bird's-eye-view images of the Tower of Terror construction site by Olivier G.
These exciting images show not only the massive impact the new attraction has already had on the entire park, but also give a superb aerial view of the current construction status. See if you can spot the future boutique, exit, queue line canopy, lobby and more. Take a look behind the tower, as well, and you'll notice the massive power grid required for the attraction, enclosed by concrete walls.
With so much talk about improvements to the current zones of Walt Disney Studios Park, it's interesting to imagine how greatly improved Production Courtyard (and indeed the whole park) will automatically be, come late 2007...

Tower is growing further Posted by raptor1982 on Monday, May 22 2006
Tower of Terror is gaining more height, thanks to a small construction at the top of the building which will carry one of the three domes. Also, an enormous building has been erected behind the Tower which will house the technical equipment and machinery of the attraction.

Tower of Terror: One year in Posted by Anthony on Wednesday, March 15 2006
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has now been under construction for over one year, at the heart of Walt Disney Studios Park. In that time we've watched the foundations laid, the giant basement pit created and the huge vertical structure of the tower soar high into the sky above Disneyland Resort Paris. Whilst visible signs of construction progress are currently becoming harder to notice, work is continuing at a steady pace. Recent developments have been the construction of steel frames for both the lobby roof and the small art deco tower. The "body" of the attraction, where the special effects and loading areas are located, has also advanced and should soon be fully joined to the vertical tower behind it.
One of the most noticable changes, however, is the construction of the first "overhang" element at the top of the tower. This is not only an important part of the Californian Tower of Terror's unique visual idendity, but also allows the massive elevator machinery to fit in place at the top of the building.
