The script

Backlot Express is a counter service restaurant that recreates the work atmosphere of the art department of a movie studio, reflecting the relaxed work atmosphere that reigns in the studios.

Production guide

The areas are arranged in such a manner as to cover every aspect of a production studio, such as the props shop featuring sculptures, lamps and furniture, the editorial room and the paint shop.

On the patio, guests discover garden fountains and furniture ready to be used on sets. The walls are covered with lists of props written down in chalk. Certain boards indicate that these should "returned as soon as possible", and warn against the possible "penalties in case of late returns", with large posters offering descriptions of the props available so as to help the film crew and the artists. Guests will recognise many of the items suspended from the ceiling.

Production footnotes

Backlot Express has a capacity of 500 seated places.

Many Dinotopia props can be found on the walls

A Speeder Bikes from Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi has been suspended on the ceiling.

Other props include miniature sets from the movie Armageddon

History

There's also a Backlot Express restaurant at Disney-MGM Studios using a similar theme.

A yellow Cab was added in the summer season of 2004 in front of the building.
