Studio Tram Tour Behind the Magic!

"Today, we’re going to focus on the talented people who work behind the camera to make the magic, the mayhem… and the Mochas." - Jeremy Irons in Studio Tram Tour Behind the Magic.

Studio Tram Tour is located at the very end of the Hollywood Boulevard. The station is disguised as the famous Hollywood Hills.

Studio Tram Tour entrance

As you enter through the Hollywood Tunnel, you're welcomed in the loading station where a tram waits for you.
Take your seat and relax! Your virtual hosts Jeremy Irons and Irène Jacob are in control now and will guide the tram through the Studios' backlot.

Tram

Jeremy Irons shares stories about French directors Truffaut and Godard while the Tram passes by Props Boneyard a collection of real props used in productions as Armageddon, 102 Dalmations and Dinotopia.

Props from Dinotopia

Our first stop is in front of a temple from the TV mini-series Dinotopia. Jeremy and Irène explain how the rest of the building was filled in by using CGI (computer generated images).

On our way to the next stop, we pass by a range of props from the famous Italian CineCita studios.

We've now arrived at Catastrophe Canyon for an explosive demonstration of special effects.

Arrival at Catastrophe Canyon

A rainstorm followed by an earthquake strike the set first.

Rain effect

Sparks cause a large tanker truck to explode and spread the fire over the set.

Burning truck

The fire is quickly put out by a huge flood coming from over the canyon... and the tram.

Water puts out the fire

That's a wrap... Up to the next set!

After leaving the canyon, the tram passes by a scene from Pearl Harbor. Two planes from the movie are parked in front of a military depot.

A peek at the park costuming department is next, as well a small exhibit of costumes from a recent Disney production.

Wardrobe from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe

Resort costuming department

As our tram continues its tour, we pass by some magic created by the resort's greenery department. Several topiaries shaped as Disney figures are located along the route.

Walt Disney Studios Horticulture

The next stars we see are the ones that never steal the scenes and don't need make-up, just a little bit of wax... At least according to Jeremy Irons. They are the Star Cars.

Vehicles from Dinotopia and Reign of Fire

Cars from hit Disney movies like 102 Dalmations, Runaway Bride and Reign of Fire are parked for a photo opportunity.

Vehicles from various movies

The final stop is London, but London as you’ve never seen it before – scorched, by dragons, as seen in the Touchstone production Reign of Fire.

Reign of Fire set

Roars, smoke and a burst of flames immerge from a pit in the middle of the set, but don't worry! Jeremy and Irène lead our tram safely through the movie set back to the loading station.
