Mission 2 Space Mountain: Mission
2 is a "sequel" to the popular "Space Mountain
de la terre à la lune" indoor roller coaster
which opened in 1995.
The exterior of the building was completely
refurbished in 2005 and brand new special effects including
projections and smoke, were added inside the Mountain.
The Moon Trains were re-named to Space Train and received
a new colour scheme.
Trivia
- The work title for the make-over project
was "Space Mountain: Supernova".
- It's being rumoured that the Moon
from the first version of the attraction can be seen
on one of the rotating asteroids in the first scene.
- The launch from the cannon has been
changed as it now happens on the bottom of the cannon,
instead of half way.
- Space phenomenons along the ride include:
astroids, comets, whirlpools, a supernova and a wormhole.
- The "Electro-De-Velocitor" at the end
of the track was one of the few elements that was kept
from the first version.
- Michael Giacchino composed the soundtrack
for Mission 2. He was also responsible for the music
in "The Incredibles" and the re-vamp version
of the Disneyland California Space Mountain.
