La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant (French for “Sleeping Beauty Gallery”) tells the story of Sleeping Beauty through storybooks, stained glass windows and hand made tapestries on the first floor of Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant. It opened on 23 March 1993, almost a year after Disneyland Park was inaugurated. Gas powered flames in the fireplace were shortly replaced by a light effect due to safety concerns.

Inside the Gallery there are many references to the Sleeping Beauty animated feature. The snoring knight harnesses are coloured red and blue, an homage to Flora and Merryweather’s disagreement about Aurora’s dress. And many animals and critters can be found on the walls and columns.

Trivia

Look for the statue of Diablo the Raven. If you take a flash photograph of it, you’ll notice his eyes turn out red on your photo.
