Nickelodeon Land at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool

Postby Anthony » Sun Aug 01, 2010 4:36 am

It seems like character-based family lands are the order of the day. Pleasure Beach have announced the ye-olde Beaver Creek area (plus Space Invader) will be turned into "Nickelodeon Land".

I used to hate Beaver Creek even when I was the target audience. Give me a C-Ticket for the Monorail any day!

They got their Mack Twist 'n' Splash then. But give it ten years and this will go the same way as Chessington's Beanoland did.

Wouldn't be too sure on that - the Pleasure Beach are under contract to maintain it. :)
Rollercoaster and Zipper Dipper are being painted Orange and Light Blue respectively, and work has started on demolishing certain structures - there's more photos here of the ongoing works: http://www.pleasurebeachexperience.co.u ... atest.html

The concept art makes it look more appealing than Toy Story Playland. And I think thats saying something.

Here's the concept of the land - unlike TSPL which has 3 rides, this has 14!

This collaboration between Pleasure Beach, Blackpool and Nickelodeon, the number one entertainment brand for kids, will see a 6 acre area of Pleasure Beach transformed into Nickelodeon Land, which will feature 14 rides, 9 are brand new and 5 are extensively re-themed existing rides. Nickelodeon Land also includes themed retail and catering outlets.

New rides include SpongeBob's Splash Bash, which is an interactive ride where riders have the opportunity to turn the jets onto their friends and blast pesky jellyfish with jets of water for a splashing time. Avatar Airbender allows riders to join Aang on an amazing adventure, spinning and soaring through the air on a giant disk. The Rugrat's Lost River is a rollicking flume ride where you join the Rugrats on their quest to find the mythical Temple of Spoon.

With the postitve response TSPL has recieved from many on here. Why is no one commenting and praising Nickelodeon Land. Oh thats right is not Disney!!!

Although same concept, themed carnival rides. Only quite a few more than the three we got for TSPL.

Yep, proof people will buy anything with the Disney stamp on it. AS much as this is not my cup of tea either, it is less hateful at the Pleasurebeach. And guarenteed the kids will love it
Let's put the Walt back in Disney!

Or I suppose it could be that more forum members are interested in/planning a trip to Disney than Blackpool.

I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse - Walt Disney

I can respect that as I wouldn't personally step foot in Blackpool. But still it would be nice to see all fans who showed love for TSPL come here and say some nice words. Since Nickelodeon Land is a plus up version of TSPL. With several more rides.

The thing is, I don't necessarily think Toy story Playland is poorly themed or has a bad selection of rides, it's just that it would be more suitable for a place like the Pleasure Beach where everything is so compact and there are no 'lands' as such, with the exception of the upcoming Nickelodeon Land of course.

Work has commenced on repainting Rollercoaster orange and Zipper Dipper a shade of light blue - both of these classic woodies will be retained in the development - however work has nearly finished on the demolision of the 'Thinnest House in the World'.
