Two amazing views.

It's a Small World with boats and water, but no scenery:

And the Hyperion Airship, deflated!

I've never seen that before.

I'd like it if, on the site, you said where the photos came from. Not necessarily the person that supplied them to you, but what form they were originally published in. These two most recent ones look like they're from a newspaper or some kind of magazine, due to the halftone pattern.

Sure, will do. I think these were from En Coulisse September 1991, but I'll go back and check. This could also be linked across to the items themselves on Memorabilia, where available.

I've kindly been sent 12 great photos spanning 1992 - 1994 to use on the website. One will appear each day for the next week or so, here's the first two:

Notice not a single item of character merchandise in the first photo, and no mention yet of Indy on the "Temple du Peril" construction walls.

Some more wonderful rare views to come. Thanks Jason! (not sure if you're a member here)

And if you've got photos like these hiding away somewhere and would like to share them, backstageATeurosouvenirland.com is the email (replace AT with @) or if you've already got them uploaded somewhere send me the link(s) via private message or that same address.

More great pics! I love seeing the old Discovery Mountain sign, pity it was never given a chance... :(

You know that arch of rock-work in Frontierland? What's it called, Rainbow Arch? Something like that. Well, was it inspired by THIS arch in Bryce Canyon, or something else?

Also, those Canoes. I actually remember riding those once, in Paris. They were fun. I wonder why they don't run them anymore?

Yes it's officially the Rainbow Arch. I don't know if it's based on one specific real-world arch, there are actually several that come up when searching for Bryce Canyon, some even more like Frontierland's:

I forget when the canoes closed, but it was very early on. A cost-cutting measure presumably, since the capacity/throughput is very low and they'd be expensive to run, CMs probably having special training. Strange that it happened when the park was supposedly desperate for extra capacity though.

Great research photos there Anthony. Yes, the arches you found look a lot more like Rainbow Arch, than the one I found. Thinking about it, Bryce Canyon is very Radiator Springs, isn't it? Makes you wonder if Big Thunder Mountain will ever become Mater's Ghost Mountain.

Maybe they could bring back the Explorer Canoes, but to the Walt Disney Studios Park. You could paddle around inside the tanks at Catastrophe Canyon, before getting flushed out onto a tram full of Jeremy Irons fans :-)
