Ooo my! Well, where to begin?
Yesterday my friend Di and I had a concert to attend in London so we left my house at 10:40am in her car, and made our way. We weren't even that far onto the M1 when the sat nav fell fast fast asleep < terrible timing. So all we had to go by to get us the rest of the way and to the venue was the google maps directions we had. It was all going so well and we got to London by about 4:00pm. That is when things went horribly wrong, through one thing or another, we got lost...and terribly so. So lost in fact, we were lost for relatively 2 and a half hours with nothing but few and far between signs to try and lead us to the place we needed to be...which we didn't actually know. So after being lost for so long we luckily found our way to a sign that was for Harrow I think it was called and Kenton, which is where Di had a friend. We drove to his house but no one was in...by this time it was 6:30pm and the venue doors opened at 7:00pm. We were a half hour drive away from the venue we didn't know how to find and a taxi wouldn't be sent for another hour. So we decided to go for the trains, even though I have a slight...fear of them. I just don't like the idea of being on a train going to somewhere we don't know etc. So we got the names of the stations we needed to get to and to the transfers etc we made our way. Kenton station to 'Something' Junction and then to 'Something' Oak - I think. Thankfully there were some really lovely people! I can't even think about the situation we'd have been in, if the people of London hadn't been so friendly. And needless to say we went from train to train and got off at where we needed to be. But then we had no idea where the venue was so decided to simply walk in one direction and ask the first person we saw. Then after another lovely person helped us we were at the venue! It was 8:00pm and the support band had just gone on. What luck! It was like a Christmas Miracle! The concert was amazing we saw Jónsi, and it was just mind-blowing. Then came the panic once more about getting the trains back and hoping we hadn't missed the last ones. Dashed back to the station and made the train, thankfully, due to yet another lovely Londoner in the form of the train driver! Then got to our transfer and another person helped us, we didn't even ask for help this time as we were flapping about trying to work things out and he just appeared and sorted us right out!

Then we got on the train, got off at our stop, dashed back to the car and were on our way by 11:30pm. Now it was my job to keep Di awake so she could drive. Then after a couple of stops and we were both ready to be home. Then after some long travelling I got home at 5:00am this morning. We got to watch the sun rise! It was such an up and down trip, so worth it though. But having only had about 4 or 5 hours of sleep and a busy day today...I'm rather tired! But so excited to go see Jónsi again, this time in Leeds...its far closer. Don't think I'll be going back to London for a long time. The people were great but the place was horrible to us.
