Yeah total changes the feel of the area!

I looked at a copy of the park map and your right, it makes the Blv area a little "island" with curb etc. Looks great, and makes more sense that its an "island" seperate from TOT. I also noticed on the map that the entrance to the STT had the old frontage, and was located behind the tunnel they are building.

Do you reckon that the old frontage will be reconstructed, in the new location, or was it on the map simply so people would recognise, and no where to head untill the new area is totaly finished??

Wow! This looks great 8) I also hope curbs are added. It definitely wouldn't seem right without them

Yeah, a mixture of that and the fact the map doesn't seem to be properly finished. The buildings either side of the tunnel are in a kind of dark red "proofing" colour, not final... maybe they rushed to get it finished for the start of the 15th guests pouring in? Hopefully the map will be finished up for the end of this year (and they'll have to change the one on the tips board again too..) with the Hollywood hills much bigger.

The STT billboard is gone for good, the supports have been extended higher so this is definitely where the back part of the hills will go.

I wonder if the Imagineers had some kind of burning ceremony with the old billboard? Or maybe, they'll wait until the Cars one comes down too -- hey, we found our 2007 Bonfire Spectacular!

With the whole blvd and tot much bigger. the current map seems absolutely out of scale, they squeezed the new area onto the small meadow of the old map, looking like miniature land.

I remember peaking though the fence onto the site where the tower now sits, and thinking that there was not much space. How wrong was I. looking at those photo's, you realise that the whole area, Tower, gardens, and Blvd is vast! I cant wait for those fences to come down!

New signs and progress photos

Postby Winstonio » Sat Sep 29, 2007 11:22 pm

New signs at the right site of Hollywood Boulevard, on the flat 2 buildings there are 2 new signs. I believe they are neon lights.

Can't help my feeling:
The 2 buidlings are very nice when you look them at the front...but what a pitty those 2 d buildings when you look them from aside (view from the HTH) or from behind when you are at the STT. They shoud put there 2 more real buildings on that spot and behind the tram tour the 2 d buildings. That should make more perspective and the tram tour part of the boulevard.

What kind of imagineers are working over there haha

More progress on this really nice "real" building:

stating the obvious, but imagine how fantastic all this detail will look lit up when early dark nights draw in. It will so atmospheric!

Great updates Winstonio, thanks! Are those your own photos?

So - we have a new location on the boulevard!! Los Feliz Hotel... Well, let's see - according to Wikipedia's Los Foliz entry:

Wikipedia wrote:"Los Feliz is bordered by Hollywood on the south, Hyperion Avenue on the southeast, Griffith Park on the north, the Los Angeles River on the east, and Western Avenue on the west."

"Los Feliz was home to many early movie studios, including the first Disney studio and D. W. Griffith's studio"

What kind of Imagineers are working over there? Pretty great ones! They're just working with a pitiful amount of cash, it's not their fault. For €10m (the rumoured price - very very low for a Disney project), they're doing great work if you ask me.

The 2D sets that don't look great from other angles might not there forever anyway. What would we prefer, the STT billboard back?

What sticks out to me, is how realistic the 2D buildings appear on Photographs. All the 2D buildings in the states are obviously 2D on second glance, particularly in photographs. Is it just me, or maybe the weather and sky, but these look a lot more realistic, and harder to distingush between them and the 3D facades?

Yes, I agree. As the 2D backdrop was being built I actually thought it was 3D
